Believing in Jesus Christ.
John wrote his biography of Jesus "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ [note M] the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name"[John 20:31].
John in his first letter wrote "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, That you may know that you have eternal life"[1 John 5:13], "These things I write to you that your joy may be full"[1 John 1:4].
Believing on Jesus Christ brings the life of God to the soul of man, this goes beyond the realm of science or any other human knowledge. Believing on Jesus Christ is believing what the Bible tells us about him. Some key beliefs are summarised in the Apostles' Creed.
Importantly it is believing that He is God, and that in the life and teaching of Jesus Christ we have God's clearest and final message to mankind. That in His death Jesus paid the penalty for the wrong-doings of those who believe on Him saving them from endless punishment in Hell.
You should take time to read the biographies of Jesus in the Bible [Note G]. Notice how the death of Jesus is dealt with at length and the importance given to it.
Once you come to believe that Jesus is God, died, rose again and lives in heaven, that He turned water into wine, healed the sick, raised the dead and did many other miracles. That He created the universe including man. Then you will want to follow and obey Him.
In living apart from Him and in disobedience to Him you have wronged Him and done many wrong things. When you come to realise this, you will find that you want to do the right thing but find it difficult.[Romans 7:19, 1 John 1:7-9]
The important thing is to seek to follow Jesus Christ in the fellowship of a Christian Church, and ask for strength and guidance of Jesus' other self: the Holy Spirit.[1 Corinthians 11:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:6; Philippians 4:8; Galations 5:16-25; 1 Thessalonians 5:15.Luke 11:13; Acts 19:2; John 16:13 & 7; Acts 1:4-8.]
You should start telling people about this so that they may believe. You believe there is a God who can communicate with us therefore He can hear you where you are now, so now pray this prayer to express your new found relation-ship with God: Say this meaning it:
Gracious and loving heavenly Father, I know that I have erred and sinned against you, and that I can not make amends for that which is past. I am truly sorry.
Believing that Jesus Christ took my punishment for my wrong-doings when he died that cruel death on a cross two thousand years ago shedding His precious blood for me, I trust in Him as my Saviour from sin, my Lord and my God.
I now return to You and take Him as my guide in this life and ask You to send Your Holy Spirit, Jesus' other self, to strengthen and guide me during the rest of this my earthly life. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ who with You and the Holy Spirit are the only true God,
Amen.
Note G.These biographies are called Gospels as they tell Good News. Start with Mark or Luke followed by John is best, leaving Matthew until last.
Note M. Christ means Messiah, the deliverer promised to the Jews, who would also bless all nations and all peoples.
